1 Peter 2:4-6 – 4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”
1 Kings 6:7 – In building the temple, only blocks dressed at the quarry were used, and no hammer, chisel or any other iron tool was heard at the temple site while it was being built.
Isaiah 28:16-17 – 16 So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic. 17 I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line;
hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie, and water will overflow your hiding place.
Matthew 21:44 – Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.
We don’t come to a man, or a god, that once was alive, but now is dead. The dead cannot love us, protect us and provide for us. The dead cannot lead us anywhere. We come to Jesus Christ, who walked the earth as God and man. We come to Jesus who was cruelly tortured and died as He assumed the penalty for our sin. But He did not remain dead, the grave could not hold Him! By the power of God Almighty, Jesus rose from the dead and lives today! Those who do not answer the call from God to kneel before Jesus and call Him King of kings and Lord of lords (Revelation 17:14), they refuse to hear, they refuse to know that our Jesus lives. But we are not such people! Praise the Lord! We heard the call and were drawn to Jesus. We do kneel before Him and call Him our King and our Lord (Romans 14:11, Philippians 2:10-11). In our hearts and minds there are none before Him and none will succeed Him (Isaiah 43:10-11).
Though the world refuses to see an empty tomb, we have peered into it and the empty tomb was evidence of life to us. God has called us to His Precious One and we follow Jesus our Christ. We understand, by the grace of God, that eternal salvation is given only through Jesus. We have come, understanding our need for forgiveness, and have fallen upon the large, solid, unbreakable Cornerstone that is the forever enduring covenant of grace from God. We fall upon the Cornerstone, broken and in need of a Savior save us. We were all like Humpty Dumpty. Broken with no hope of being repaired by self or any other. Yet, we fell, broken, upon the cornerstone and He did the miraculous and put us “back together again” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Our lives, ever being molded to the image of God, are proof that He lives.
1 Kings 6:7 relates to us that when the temple that Solomon built, the stones of the temple were hammered and chiseled before they came to the temple. It is that way with us. Before we get to Heaven, before we take our eternal place with God, the Lord has been doing the chiseling away of what is rough, what is not desirous. We are stones that are being prepared before arriving at the temple to fit perfectly with all other stones of the temple. We are being perfectly crafted by perfect hands. In the perfect foreknowledge and by the absolute will of God, we were being crafted by Him before we even bowed our knees to Him. He knew us before we knew Him and when the time came to bow our knees to Jesus, we had already been crafted to do. First, Jesus is the Cornerstone that is the foundation for all who honestly and purely seek God. Then God, who has known all who would be His before the creation of all of creation, knew exactly how He would shape us to be a part, an essential part, of the temple where God resides (1 Corinthians 6:9). The mysteries and wonders of God are endless and beyond us! Praise the Lord!
Father God sent His Son to us and He has brought us to Him. Now we behold the beauty of our Savior and Lord Jesus. He is our Life, He is our Love! We are enraptured by the love of God that is presented to us through Jesus. We absolutely, without wavering, trust in Him. We trust in no other. Trusting in Him we are never put to shame. Here in this world, we are not ashamed of Him. Instead, we lift Him up to be seen by all as we proudly proclaim He is our Savior and Lord. We proudly present Him to world so that they may see Him and be saved. We belong to Jesus. We are never ashamed of Him. Not now, on this earth, as we share the Gospel by word and action. And we shall never be put to shame. When the final day of judgement comes, then it will be revealed to all that we are His. We will be jubilant as we stand with Jesus in heaven. Shame will be for those who rejected God’s grace. We are not people of shame, or who shall be shamed. We are those who are God’s prize. We are loved by God. We shall never know shame (Romans 10:11). Praise God for our sure destiny! Praise God solely for who He is. Praise God!
Psalm 150:6 – Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!
Micah 7:7 – But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.
Micah 6:8 – He has shown You, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of You but to do justly, to love mercy, And to walk humbly with Your God.
