Luke 14:27 “And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.”
In the television series “The Chosen” in the season 3 trailer, Jesus had this exchange with one of His Apostles.
Jesus: “There will come a time when things will get very difficult. Are you ready to do hard things.”
The Apostle replied “Yes.”
Smiling at the Apostle Jesus said “Well, we will see.”
I felt like i was being asked if I was ready to hard things. My heart raced and I gulped. I don’t think Jesus would have wanted me to respond “I hope so.”
Jesus responded to the Apostle “Well, we will see.”
Jesus wants a firm commitment. He wants us to live for Him at all times and at all costs. Am I ready? Like the Apostle said to Jesus I would likewise respond “Yes” and hopefully not with any hesitancy, but with a sure commitment. If Jesus appeared to you, right now, and asked the same of you, how would you react, what would you say and how would you say it? Let’s be ready, we don’t know what’s ahead. Let’s make sure our commitment to Jesus is strong and sure. He deserves that.
Psalm 150:6 – Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!
Micah 7:7 – But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will Hear me.
Micah 6:8 – He has shown you, Oh man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
Numbers 6:24-26 – The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.
