Devotion Proverbs 27:20 A Cure For The Sting

Proverbs 27:20 “Death and Destruction are never satisfied, and neither are human eyes.”

Every day someone dies somewhere and this will continue until present creation is destroyed and replaced.  Destruction of the earth and everything on it is perpetual until the appointed time.  (Matthew 24:35, Revelation 21:1-4) It is a consequence of the original sin of man.  (Romans 8:19-22)

Today mankind strives to live forever.  Mankind also tries to keep this earth from what ravages it.  Yet it is a futile struggle against the decree of God.  Mankind dies and all the earth dies with him because of original sin.  Since death is a God proclaimed consequence of man’s rebellion, the cancer of death is stopped only by the one who was rebelled against, God.  Ultimately all sin is against God. (Psalm 51:4)  Only God can forgive sin.

Only God can stop the penalty of sin.  Man tries to find a cure against death, but man cannot stop what God has proclaimed.  Man’s sin also brought consequence to all of creation. (Romans 8:20-21)  Again, only God can stop it and He stopped it through Jesus.  Now we know that even the redeemed man will physically die.  Jesus died to redeem souls back to God. (1 Peter 19, Luke 19:10)  However death of the terrestrial body is evidence of the fall and therefore a reminder against sin.  Only in eternity with the Lord will we receive our celestial body that will never perish.

Natural death is a reminder of the greatness, love, compassion and kindness of God who redeemed us.  People die because man sinned. Thank God that the story does not end there.  At the right time Jesus came and sacrificed His life to make a way back to God.  (Romans 5:6)  In that we see the great love of God for His creation.   We do not fear the death of our bodies because our spirit will forever be with God.  Death has lost its sting. 1 Corinthians 15:53-57 “For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.  54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”  55 “Where, O death, is your victory?  Where, O death, is your sting?”  56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  Death no longer frightens but rather is a release unto God. (2 Corinthians 5:8)  Our bodies die and rot, but our spirits live forever with God because of Jesus.  Praise God!  Family, we live forever and we shall forever thank God and glorify Him.  Even now we say “Praise and Glory to our God!”

Psalm 150:6 – Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord!

Micah 7:7 – But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will Hear me.

Micah 6:8 – He has shown you, Oh man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Numbers 6:24-26 The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.
