Devotion Proverbs 19:21 Choosing Our Will Or His

Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

Whether it is a runner, a fighter, or any sporting team, we have seen supposed victories celebrated too soon and then turn to embarrassment.  Likewise are the many examples of people who have saved for retirement only to die before being able to enjoy it.

Jesus gave us an example of a “Rich Fool” who worked hard until he had great abundance and decided he would live the rest of his life enjoying the riches he built.  But God said to him “You fool!  This very night your life will be demanded from you.  Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?” (Luke 12:13-20)  Jesus gave us an example of the foolishness of living out one’s own plans rather than seeking the will of God for one’s own life.  However Jesus did not leave the story at that.  He then clarified “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:13-20)

No matter who much things seem to be going right we must remember that it is God’s ways that will prevail.  We can build a fortune in this life and lose it all when we die, or before.  The wise understand.  The poor person who lives only to serve the Lord and is grateful to do so, dies and people think that the person wasted their life.  But they don’t see the great reward gained from the person’s last breath on earth to the person’s next breath in Heaven.

Family and Friends, God speaking through the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 14:24) announced “Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will happen.”  Amen and amen! What God wills shall happen.  Jesus, while here on earth, said to the Father “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”  (Matthew 6:10)  So it is written, so it will be done!  Praise God!  Family there is peace and eternal security in trusting God’s plans rather than our own.

Let’s not be rich with our own plans, but rich in the plans of God.  That is true richness! Let us live out the Truth of what Jesus taught us in Matthew 5:19-21 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  Seek God, and His will for our lives, and then we will know true love, peace and happiness that will always be with us.  Praise God!

Micah 7:7 – But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will Hear me.

Micah 6:8 – He has shown You, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of You but to do justly, to love mercy, And to walk humbly with Your God.

Numbers 6:24-26 “The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”
