Devotion Lamentations 3:22-24 The Best Part Of Waking Up

Lamentations 3:22-24 – The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”

Earlier this morning I was listening to a message from Pastor Jon Courson.  He spoke of the morning ritual that many people have of starting off their day with coffee.  Nothing at all wrong with that.  Many people have that habit.  Gets them off to a good start of the day.  Good stuff. He also likes to do that.

Then he said that as good as the drink of coffee can be, there is something even better.  That is if we keep in mind this acrostic for coffee: Christ Offers Forgiveness For Everyone Everywhere.  For Everyone.  For all of us.

Family, if drinking coffee in the morning is a good start for the day, great!  And so much better the start of the day if even before the coffee we are remembering the great promise “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16.  Remembering that is the best start to any day.   In fact, when the first cup is poured, think of this coffee acrostic “Christ Offers Forgiveness For Everyone Everywhere.”  Yes, be greeted in the morning by the love of God!  God loves us so much that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for us so that we could come home to Him.  So that we could be forgiven of our sins.  And He didn’t stop there.  It wasn’t a one-time event.   He is with us every morning, every day, and every night.  The love of God never pauses and never stops.  Not ever.  So every morning, let’s remember to start off our day with the remembrance that with God, every day is a fresh start.  That’s the best part of waking up is God in the heart and on the mind and, perhaps, coffee in your cup.
