Devotion Acts 24:24-25 Later, Tomorrow, Another Time

Acts 24:24-25 – And after some days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. 25 Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.”

Acts 26:28 – Then Agrippa said to Paul, “Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?”

2 Corinthians 6:2 – For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Below is an excerpt from Charles Swindoll’s commentary on Acts.  It is well worth reading!

There once was a man who was transported into the black abyss inside the earth, surrounded by the evil spirits and their ruler, Satan himself.  He watched as a discussion unfolded between Satan and his spirits, he heard him as he said with a loud voice, “Who will go to earth for me and persuade people that I may accomplish the rule of their souls?  What message will you use?  How will you say what you want to say so that men and women, boys and girls, will turn away from the things of God?”
A spirit responded, “I will go for you, and I will tell people that there is no heaven.”  The ruler frowned and replied, “No, that will not do.  For too many centuries humanity has been told that there is a heaven.  An our enemy, God, has given the Christians a book that talks about heaven and promises that it is a place there will no longer be death and tears and sorrow and pain and affliction and tragedy.”
A second spirit glided forward and said, “I will go, and I will tell men and women that there is no hell.”  Again the ruler responded negatively: “That will not do either.  The conscience, if nothing else, convinces people that someday there must be a day of reckoning and a place where men and women will come to terms with their lives.  In fact, that book I mentioned, the Christian’s handbook, has more to say about hell than about heaven.  You could never convince them there’s no hell.”
There was a pause.  The ruler added, “I need someone who will make an appeal to all classes, all ages, and all cultures in all the countries around the planet where men and women live.”
One dark spirit stepped up and said, “I have the answer.  I will go for you.  I will not tell people there is no hell.  I will not tell them there is no heaven.  I will simply tell them there is no hurry.”
            They sent him.
The word used for that destroyer of souls is “procrastination.”

Family, tomorrow is promised to no-one.  (James 4:13-14, Proverbs 27:1)  We all must be, every moment of our lives, ready to stand before God.  No-one knows if the next moment we die and face judgement.  I have known a loved one who all was thought healthy, who suddenly collapsed and before he hit the ground he was dead (I thank God that he called Jesus his Savior and Lord).   Please don’t delay committing to God through Jesus.  2 Corinthians 6:2 “For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”  I plead with everyone, out of love for you all, come to Jesus right now.  I pray that, if you have not, all of you do, right now.

Psalm 150:6 – Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord!

Micah 7:7 – But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.

Micah 6:8 – He has shown You, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of You but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with Your God.

Numbers 6:24-26 “The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”
