Devotion 1 John 3:20 Neverending Love

1 John 3:20 – If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.

Romans 10:9-13 – If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Romans 8:38 – For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It is amazing how much we love ourselves and yet can turn from our love of others!  We can get tired of others if they continuously fail.  If, after our best efforts to help they fail time after time after time.  If they say they hear and believe what the Word we share with them says, but then don’t live it out, we can decide that we will no longer bother with them.  We will no longer care.  We tell ourselves that we do it for our own sanity.  After all, we must take care of ourselves in order to help others…right?  Hmmm?  (Does that suppose that the ability of the Lord to keep us wanes?)  Is that the heart of God? We think that to help those who continuously mess up can seem a waste of time.  They apologize and then do it again and again and again and sometimes we just say I’ve done my best.  I’m done.  Certainly I understand that.  It is not us who saves or keeps, that is the job of God.  Yet it is not only His job, He truly has made us our “brother’s keeper.”  (Genesis 4:9, Philippians 2:4, Galatians 6:2, 1 John 3:17-18, Colossians 3:12).  Yet we are thankful to God that He did not give up on us, all of us.  Why do we give up on others?

Every day I am amazed, I laugh, and sometimes cry at how Jesus took my place. It’s like I was in line standing before death and death blinked and when his eyes were open again it was no longer me standing there but Jesus. I was saved from what I deserved because of the love of God expressed through the Lord Jesus Christ. I feel bad that Jesus had to take my place but am so glad that He did! Yes, I am dirt, but God calls me gold. In spite of all my continual mistakes He calls me His own. I use to waver in my belief of it, but no longer, I will not allow human reason to cause me to doubt God. I will not for His sake, for love of Him.  After all, He suffered and died for my sake because of His love. He never has failed me and never will.

Let’s be assured and thankful to God for His grace and love.   Also let us never give up on each other.  Let us fulfill the two greatest commands that are loving God with all that we are and also loving each other. (Mark 12:30-31)  In this the love of God finds its complete work (1 John 4:11-12).  Since God loves always and eternally, let us do likewise.  In that is the peace and joy of God.  Praise God!  Praise God!  Praise God!

Psalm 150:6 – Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord!

Micah 7:7 – But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.

Micah 6:8 – He has shown You, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of You but to do justly, to love mercy, And to walk humbly with Your God.

Numbers 6:24-26 “The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”
