Devotion Psalm 30:11-12 Peace In Gratitude

Psalm 30:11-12 – You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, 12 that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.  Lord my God, I will praise you forever.

Some have lived in pain virtually, or in reality, day after day and year after year.  Some have lived in sadness and hurt that just seemed it could never go away.  Some have seen disappointment after disappointment, from external circumstances and from the consequences of one’s own decisions, so that it seemed that if they didn’t have disappointment they wouldn’t have anything at all.  We have been employed and unemployed.  We have enjoyed the life of people and pets.  We have known the beauty of a sunrise, the pristine calm and magnificence of the moon in the sky, and the spectacular beauty of the sky painted by a sunset.  We have heard the beauty that is in a baby’s first cry, and we have known the healing wonder of a baby’s gaze and the pure satisfaction shown in a baby’s coo.  We have felt the love of our parents holding us.  The safety of sitting in their laps.  The all-encompassing love they gave us.  We have known that we could not be hurt without them being hurt.  Many have known the touch of a spouse and the look of love in their eyes that says to us “I love you with all that I am.”  We have seen beauty that made us cry and ugliness that brought repulsion and broken hearts.  The list of joys and pains is endless, as we all have seen and known great pain and sorrow and great joy and happiness.

So much beauty and so much pain in this world.  For all of the undulations of pain and joy, of beauty and ugliness, there is only one true beauty that causes deep-down-in-the-soul-unshakable-peace-and-calm.  It is knowing and being the grateful recipient of God’s love that is fully and solely expressed through Jesus Christ His Son.  Only in Jesus is perfect and lasting peace and joy found.  Though the winds blow, though the waters threaten, though the fire eats, and though life breathes its last, it is God who always is and always will be, the salve that heals all hurts.  When we consider our great future, which is the goal for all who strive to live eternally with Him, our hearts and our souls sing with praises to Him that cannot, and will not be silenced.  We live with our imperfect selves, we live among imperfect people in imperfect nations in an imperfect world.  But this is not our home, it is not our goal, it is not our treasure.  Us, our neighbors, our cities, our nations and our world all contain evil and good.  Perfection is only found with God.  If we set our eyes, our hopes and our dreams on Him then the peace that God gives cannot be stolen.  When we determine to know nothing if we don’t know the goodness and love of God, our satisfaction in the sure promise of a perfect eternity cannot be stolen because God will not allow it to be.  Those who humble themselves before the Son, and who desire to remain in that position, will forever live in perfect, yes perfect, love, joy, peace and happiness.   All this is just more reason to love Him.  Love and serve Him because of who He is. Let’s be thankful that He loves us so greatly and eternally.  Let’s praise Him every day of our lives.  Yes, hallelujah!  Praise you God! Today and every day we look to You and with grateful hearts and praise You!   Praise You God!

Psalm 150:6 – Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord!

Micah 7:7 – But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.

Micah 6:8 – He has shown You, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of You but to do justly, to love mercy, And to walk humbly with Your God.
