Devotion Acts 7.1-51 Irrefutable Defense Part 12

Acts 7:1-51 / 30 – “After forty years had passed, an angel appeared to Moses in the flames of a burning bush in the desert near Mount Sinai.

“After forty years had passed, an angel appeared to Moses in the flames of a burning bush in the desert near Mount Sinai.”  Moses was forty when he, aware of his calling, attempted to enact his calling in his own power and understanding.  After that did not work he spent forty years in the desert where God molded a proud Moses into a humble man.  At forty years old, before his time in Midian, Moses thought that he was ready to rescue the Israelites.  After his forty years, at eighty years old, Moses was a different and humble man. (Exodus 3-4)  He no longer had any desire to confront the Pharaoh and lead the Israelites in his own power.  He realized that He was not able to fulfill his calling in his own power.  He knew that He needed God to do the work.  He had learned what David would later proclaim to Goliath, that he was not the one who could bring the victory, but it must be God Himself who does the work. (1 Samuel 17:45-47)  Family, we too know that the victory for our salvation and for the ministries the Lord has for us to do, are not by the our own hands, or the hands of any man, but are by the hands of God “All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battles is the LORD’S, and He will give all of you into our hands.”  Like David, we trust God for the victory and give Him all the credit.  But David had to do what God called him to do.  David, with complete faith in the Lord, ran to face the giant to see the victory that the Lord would provide.  Moses left to do as the Lord had called Him to do.  He too, believing God to provide the victory, had to do his part and He left Midian and crossed the desert to confront Pharaoh where he would watch the Lord provide the victory.  Family, we too must wait on the Lord.  We must let Him fully prepare us for the task and we must wait for the reality of Him to fill every part of our being.  Then we shall run to face the giant and we will cross the desert to face the Pharoah, knowing it is only God Himself who will accomplish the victory.

Victory In Jesus

I heard an old, old story, how a Savior came from glory
How He gave His life on Calvary to save a wretch like me
I heard about His groaning, of His precious blood’s atoning
Then I repented of my sins and won the victory
Oh victory in Jesus, my Savior forever
He sought me and He bought me with His redeeming blood
He loved me ‘ere I knew Him and all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood…

To know God is to trust God.  If one does not trust God then knowledge of Him, by Him, must be strengthened.  There are no exceptions. Praise our God who gives to us abundantly and joyfully!  Praise God!  Oh He is so good!  Love and praise God!

Psalm 150:6 – Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord!

Micah 7:7 – But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.

Micah 6:8 – He has shown You, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of You but to do justly, to love mercy, And to walk humbly with Your God.
