Devotion Psalm 25:4-7 Staying Close

Psalm 25:4-7 – Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.  5 Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.  6 Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. 7 Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, Lord, are good.

I hope that I am more faithful than my dog.  When I am in one room he is often laying somewhere nearby.  When I go to another room, he will follow me in.  He wants to be where I am.  Another thing, is that he watches me.  If he is sleeping, I know he is still listening.  He is listening to hear what I say or do (and of course in case I bring out some food).  He makes me laugh when I pause what I am doing and I see he is looking at me.  His name is Jake, but I often call him watcher.  That is what he does.   I love Jake.

I hope that I am faithful to God at least to the level as Jake is to me.  May I wake in the morning and look and listen for Him.  May my first thoughts be of Him.  May my first words be to Him “Good Morning Lord!  What are we doing today?”  Always may I keep my eyes on God and my ears open for His instruction.  May I walk in the impressions of His footsteps.  Continually may I consider His infinite love for me and His faithfulness that is beyond my comprehension.  Every breath I exhale may it be filled with gratefulness to our Lord.  He truly is so good and He loves me so much.  Oh He knows my many faults.  He has an innumerable amount of times lifted me from recklessness with skinned knees and bruises and heals me.  He lifts me with love and speaks loving and kind words to me.  He calls to me warnings and gives me direction and when I fail to listen and obey, He picks me up and forgives me.  His thoughts of me are not of my frailty.  His consideration of me is through the filter of His love and grace.  In the end, all memory of my failures shall be burned away and only what I have done faithfully and in love will remain.  So I pray that will always follow where He leads.  May my bed be wherever His feet are.  May my eyes be always watching Him and may my ears be always listening for His voice.  Wherever He goes, I want to be.  He will strengthen me.  He will enable me.  He cleans me and makes me ready.  He is so good to me, He loves me.

Because He first loved me I love Him.  Though He enables me, though it is always by His power that good is done through me, He still gives me credit that belongs only to Him.  Psalm 91:14-16 ““Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.  15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.””

Keep me Lord, please keep me ever near.  I am yours and follow You, and I watch You, and I long to hear Your words to me.  Lord, where you lead, I follow.  What else can I do?

Psalm 150:6 – Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord!

Micah 7:7 – But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.

Micah 6:8 – He has shown You, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of You but to do justly, to love mercy, And to walk humbly with Your God.
