Knowing God’s Voice

Hearing the voice of God, for most, is something that God teaches us.  I’m aware how crazy this may sound to some, but it is found in His word (the bible) that God desires us to know His voice – John 10:27 – 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”  In the Old Testament, when the prophet Samuel was a child servant of the high priest Eli, God woke Samuel, calling to him.  Samuel did not know the Lord’s voice and thought that when he heard his name being called, that it was Eli.  Finally Eli recognized what was happening and told the boy to say, when called, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”  So began Samuel’s very intimate walk with God, knowing God’s voice and God himself (see 1 Samuel 3-11).

God also wants a close, intimate relationship with all of us.  He calls to us and wants us to hear and know His voice.  God said in James 4:8a – Come near to God and he will come near to you…  So the journey of knowing God’s voice and walking with Him begins with Jesus, who came to earth to make a way for us.  John 14:6 – 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

So come to hear the voice of the Almighty God, come to know Him intimately, come to Jesus.
