Devotion Isaiah 26:3-4 What Am I Riding In?

Isaiah 26:3-4 – You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. 4 Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.

Probably most of you have pulled forward too far and bumped into, or had a jolting roll over of a parking lot curb stop.  Most will wince and hope we didn’t hurt anything.  Usually that happens when are minds are elsewhere.  When we are busy or rushed.  Now, of course, our minds ought to be on driving when that is what we are doing.  However, we all can have our minds elsewhere in this busy and hectic world.  Now who does not worry whether their vehicles are damaged when they run over these curb stops?  It is someone with a bigger vehicle, like a four wheel drive truck, that the curb poses no great threat to.  Sure, it can be an unexpected jolt and a wake up moment, but no great worry happens for those who are within big vehicles that can roll over these curbs without scrapping the bottom of their vehicles.

I’m sure most have had encounters with these curb stops that jolt us back to what’s important, like driving the car and knowing where we are going. We all have, at times, done the same thing spiritually.  Sometimes we stop praying.  We stop reading the Word of God.  We stop doing what we need to do and what we need to do is to always be preoccupied with staring at God.  We need to put our eyes on God and leave them there.  We need to know that we are safe in our spiritual vehicles and that it will get us over and beyond the obstacles around it.  Better yet, that our spiritual vehicles have warnings that keep us from even encountering these potentially jolting curb stops. Family, Jesus is the vehicle that we need to always ride in. We don’t need to get another vehicle, He is the one that never wears out, that alerts us to challenges, and that enables us to get past the challenges of life that can be so scary.  Let’s let the Spirit of God, who was given to us to lead and guide us, keep us safe.  He is the infallible GPS that keeps us focused on the path that God has for us and He always gives us directions to our Father God and our Savior and Lord Jesus.  Sometimes we will hit potholes, or curb stops, but our way of moving forward will never be stopped because it is God we are depending on.  The above verse in Isaiah says that we can travel without worries, and we can overcome all the world brings, if we purposely and steadfastly keep our minds focused on God.  We must trust Him and love Him.  The Lord, the Lord Himself, is forever trustworthy.  Praise our God!

Psalm 150:6 – Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord!

Micah 7:7 – But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.

Micah 6:8 – He has shown You, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of You but to do justly, to love mercy, And to walk humbly with Your God.
