Devotion Revelation 19:1-10 Just Who Are We Talking About? Part 3

Revelation 19:1-10 – After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: “Hallelujah!  Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, 2 for true and just are his judgments.  He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries.  He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”  3 And again they shouted:“Hallelujah!  The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever.”  4 The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried: “Amen, Hallelujah!”  5 Then a voice came from the throne, saying: “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both great and small!”  6 Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.  7 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!  For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. 8 Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.) 9 Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.” 10 At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.”

“The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried: “Amen, Hallelujah!”  The four living creatures are closest to the throne and they join the twenty-four elders in getting down on their faces and worshipping God.  They have been watching the plan of salvation and the promises of justice and salvation play out.  What God’s Word has proclaimed, what God has promised is reaching its crescendo.  The vile prostitute has been destroyed.  The Beast and the devil are about to fall and also receive their punishment.  God’s almighty attributes are fully displayed and those surrounding His throne are overwhelmed by the awesome might of the person of God and His power, they are overwhelmed and just fall on their face and worship in awe of our God!

They cry out “Amen” which means “I fully agree!”  Seeing the events of Revelation, with a true Godly perspective, they agree one hundred percent with all of God’s judgments.  They know God’s justice is true and right.  Indeed they, and we, shout “Amen!”  They next shout out “Hallelujah!”  They are saying we are witnesses and testify of the greatness, justice and love of God.  They are acknowledging that all that God does is righteous and true.  They not only agree, but they shout out, with all that they are, with no reservations, praise to God.  God is right in all His ways!  Praise God!

“Then a voice came from the throne, saying: “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both great and small!”  The voice from the throne is not Father God or Jesus our God because the voice says to “praise our God.”  It is obviously the voice of another and that voice is calling on all God’s servants to praise Him. God’s majesty and ownership of us, the one who is solely responsible for our eternal lives is whom we are willing servants (slaves) to.  We all circumspectly and completely respect Him. We do not praise God like slaves forced down before a tyrant.  No, we joyfully and with full gratitude of being there and being able to witness the glory of God, prostrate ourselves before the Lord and raise our voices to be one with all praising God.  We love to praise God now.  Then, we shall praise as we never have before.  What an honor to be able to do so.  Yes, we who happily say we are His bondservants are honored to praise and honor God!  Praise our God through whom the victory for all comes.   Praise God!

Psalm 150:6 – Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord!

Micah 7:7 – But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.

Micah 6:8 – He has shown You, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of You but to do justly, to love mercy, And to walk humbly with Your God.
