Revelation 9:1-12<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth.\u00a0The star was given the key\u00a0to the shaft of the Abyss.<\/span>\u00a02\u00a0When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace.\u00a0The sun and sky were darkened\u00a0by the smoke from the Abyss.<\/span>\u00a03\u00a0And out of the smoke locusts\u00a0came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions\u00a0of the earth.<\/span>\u00a04\u00a0They were told not to harm\u00a0the grass of the earth or any plant or tree,\u00a0but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.<\/span>\u00a05\u00a0They were not allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months.\u00a0And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion\u00a0when it strikes.<\/span>\u00a06\u00a0During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.\u00a0 7\u00a0The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle.\u00a0On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces.<\/span>\u00a08\u00a0Their hair was like women\u2019s hair, and their teeth were like lions\u2019 teeth.<\/span>\u00a09\u00a0They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle.<\/span>\u00a010\u00a0They had tails with stingers, like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months.11They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss,\u00a0whose name in Hebrew\u00a0is Abaddon\u00a0and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer).\u00a0 12\u00a0The first woe is past; two other woes are yet to come.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe locusts looked like horses prepared for battle.\u00a0On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0 John is trying to relate to us from his first century life experience.\u00a0 He is seeing things that he has never seen before, and that also none of us have ever seen before. \u00a0He is comparing what has never seen before to what he has seen before.\u00a0 These \u201clocusts\u201d are not natural.\u00a0 They are demons from the spiritual realm that are appearing with a physical form.\u00a0 It is important to keep that in mind when he expresses that something was \u201clike\u201d something else.\u00a0 He is giving to us pictures, images for us to try to understand what he has seen. \u00a0Here he says these demons are coming in some type of forms as locusts. \u00a0John now further describes them as \u201clike\u201d horses prepared for battle.\u00a0 In your mind, picture a first century battle horse in full cavalry array. John says that on their heads they wore \u201csomething like\u201d crowns of gold.\u00a0 Possibly this could be the helmet \/ face shield that war horses could be fitted with.\u00a0 Or it could be they had some type of crown on.\u00a0 Now to add to this locust appearing creature that looked like horses \u201cprepared\u201d for battle, who had something \u201clike\u201d crowns of gold, we find that their faces resembled human faces.\u00a0 Okay, if you had any doubt that these were demons (though it is clear from scripture that they are), from the description that John as given so far, we are beginning to envision very scary creatures.\u00a0 Oh, and let\u2019s remember that these swarm in, they fly in.\u00a0 They come in overwhelming numbers and\u00a0Joel 2<\/b>\u00a0says they, like sunlight coming in a dawn, fill the sky.\u00a0 They are not silently flying in, they are thunderously loud as they sound like thousands of chariots barreling in. Joel says they terrify everyone as brave faces turn pale at the unstoppable onslaught descending on the earth.\u00a0 Oh\u2026My\u2026Goodness!\u00a0 No wall stops them, they go right over them.\u00a0\u00a0 This is an invading supernatural army that mankind has no defense against.\u00a0 The weapons that man creates to feel safe will not help them .\u00a0 Just as these things jump upon a person, what will be unexpected to these people is to see these beasts with human faces.\u00a0 The mind will reel, the heart will grow faint, but the hardness of their hearts to God will remain.\u00a0 All so terrifying.\u00a0 All so sad.\u00a0 All so very avoidable if man would repent.\u00a0 But the vast majority will not.\u00a0 Inconceivable!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTheir hair was like women\u2019s hair, and their teeth were like lions\u2019 teeth<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0 Some have said they description of hair \u201clike\u201d women\u2019s hair refers to an ancient Arabic proverb that compares the antlers of a locust to the hair of a girl.\u00a0 This is possible.\u00a0 It also could mean exactly what it says, that these demons have long hair.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Comparing their teeth to lion\u2019s teeth could mean they are big and scary like the teeth of lions.\u00a0 It also could refer to them having strong fangs to bite deeply and inflict great damage.\u00a0 It could mean both.\u00a0\u00a0Joel 1:6\u00a0<\/b>states \u201c<\/span>A nation has invaded my land, a mighty army without number; it has the teeth\u00a0of a lion, the fangs of a lioness<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n

As we read the book of Revelation let us always remember that God is in control.\u00a0 Therein is our comfort and our peace.\u00a0 May we also pray for those who refuse the grace of God, that they may relent and repent.\u00a0 We must pray for the lost who cling to lies to avoid the truth.\u00a0 These judgments are for those who reject God and not for His own.\u00a0 Praise God who loves us so much to save us and praise God that even during the End Time judgments His hand of mercy is extended to all who will come to Him.\u00a0 Praise God!\u00a0 He is good all the time and all the time He loves us!<\/span><\/p>\n

Psalm 150:6<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.\u00a0 Praise the Lord!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Micah 7:7<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0But as for me, I watch\u00a0in hope\u00a0for the\u00a0Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear\u00a0me.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
