Revelation 8:10-11<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky\u00a0on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water\u2014\u00a011\u00a0the name of the star is Wormwood.\u00a0 A third\u00a0of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>The third angel sounded his trumpet<\/span>\u2026\u201d\u00a0 The judgements are coming one after another.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky\u00a0on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water<\/span>\u2026\u201d\u00a0 Some think that this judgement is from nuclear fallout.\u00a0 It is not inconceivable that it may be so.\u00a0 The word for star is both literal and figurative.\u00a0 So if it is here used figuratively, then perhaps a man who lived over two thousand years ago, seeing a fiery missile entering the atmosphere may see it as a fallen star.\u00a0 However, this does not seem likely.\u00a0 A nuclear bomb would hurt more than just fresh water.\u00a0 This judgement falls specifically on one third of the fresh waters of the world.\u00a0 That indicates that waters throughout the world, are targeted.\u00a0 The Word here says \u201ca\u201d great star fell.\u00a0 That would mean one star, not multiple stars.\u00a0 To hit multiple targets across the world would require more than one missile.<\/p>\n

This seems to be exactly what it said it is, a fallen star.\u00a0 In\u00a0Matthew 24:29\u00a0<\/b>Jesus, speaking of the End Times, said that \u201c\u2026the stars will fall from the sky<\/span>\u2026\u201d\u00a0 This star falling onto earth would seem to be a fulfillment of the prophecy that Jesus gave.<\/p>\n

We may consider that missiles will usually hit what they were meant to hit.\u00a0 It will not break up as it follows its course.\u00a0 A star entering the earth\u2019s atmosphere can easily break up and thus hit different regions of the earth.\u00a0 What this star mostly hits is the fresh water sources.\u00a0 So this star lands where He who sent it intends for it to land.\u00a0 This star is judgement and He who is sending the judgment on the earth directs it to the exact targets He intends.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026the name of the star is Wormwood<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0 Wormwood means bitter.\u00a0 The word in Greek is \u201capsinthion\u201d (transliteration).\u00a0 The tie to\u00a0Exodus 15:22-25<\/b>\u00a0seems clear.\u00a0 Here the people of Israel were in the desert for three days and they had found no water to drink.\u00a0 Finally they saw water and ran to drink it.\u00a0 But the water was not drinkable, it was bitter water.\u00a0 So people began to grumble against Moses.\u00a0 Then the Lord showed Moses a \u201cpiece of wood\u201d NIV.\u00a0 The NIV calls what Moses was led to a \u201cpiece of wood.\u201d\u00a0 The NKJV calls it a \u201ctree.\u201d\u00a0 The ESV called it a \u201clog,\u201d but adds the footnote that it could be translated as \u201ctree.\u201d\u00a0 The original word is translated either as \u201ctree,\u201d \u201cwood,\u201d \u201cstick,\u201d or even \u201cgallows.\u201d\u00a0 So it is interesting that the waters of Marah (bitter) were made fresh by the tree. \u00a0\u00a0Jesus died upon the cross of wood and saved mankind.\u00a0 He turned a bitter life and future to a sweet life and future.\u00a0 God led Moses to use a specific tree to turn the water of death to the water of life.\u00a0 Jesus died to give us eternal life.\u00a0 Now this star called Wormwood falls upon the fresh waters, makes it bitter, and many people die from drinking it. The people of God do not drink this polluted water and the judgement of God does not fall on them.\u00a0 They are already safe in Heaven.\u00a0\u00a0 Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well \u201cBut whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life\u201d\u00a0John 4:14.<\/b>\u00a0 So those on earth, those who reject Jesus as Savior and Lord, will drink the bitter waters of judgement and will perish.\u00a0 Those who drink from the Life of Jesus, will live forever with Him.\u00a0 Praise God!<\/p>\n

An interesting side note for those who believe that this star is a nuclear missile is that Chernobyl, in English, is wormwood.\u00a0 However, that nuclear tragedy had not, as far as we know, polluted one third of fresh water on earth.\u00a0 Also, the nuclear site did not fall from the sky.<\/p>\n

\u201cA third\u00a0of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter<\/span>.\u201d This bitter water kills people.\u00a0 This is the third trumpet of judgement upon a rebellious earth.<\/p>\n

Family, it is true that we will be saved from this judgement (1 Thessalonians 5:9<\/b>).\u00a0 But what of all our family, friends and acquaintances?\u00a0 If we have the love of God within us, and all His children do, then we love these people (John 3:16<\/b>).\u00a0 We bring the Gospel to them, we pray for them, and we pray that they would repent and be saved.\u00a0 Children of God are not satisfied that that they themselves are saved, but, as the Lord does, desires that all would come to know Him as Savior and Lord (1 Timothy 2:4<\/b>).\u00a0 As we believe that the time for the Lord\u2019s return is close, perhaps it may happen today, we need to keep putting out the Word of God to all who will listen, and even to those who will not.\u00a0 Let us love and pray for the world as we endeavor to reach it.\u00a0 Blessings and love to all!\u00a0 God bless you all!<\/p>\n
