Psalm 124 <\/strong>\u2013\u00a0If the\u00a0Lord\u00a0had not been on our side\u2014let Israel say\u20142\u00a0if the\u00a0Lord\u00a0had not been on our side when people attacked us, 3\u00a0they would have swallowed us alive when their anger flared against us; 4\u00a0the flood\u00a0would have engulfed us, the torrent\u00a0would have swept over us, 5\u00a0the raging waters would have swept us away. 6\u00a0Praise be to the\u00a0Lord, who has not let us be torn by their teeth.\u00a0 7\u00a0We have escaped like a bird from the fowler\u2019s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped.\u00a0 8\u00a0Our help is in the name\u00a0of the\u00a0Lord, the Maker of heaven\u00a0and earth.<\/span><\/p>\n

We \u201ccount our blessings,\u201d we all have much to thank God for.\u00a0 We thank God for our salvation and for being exactly who He is.\u00a0 We thank Him for being loving and trustworthy and all that entails.\u00a0 We thank God for having health, a spouse, children, extended family, house, job, transportation, etc.\u00a0 The blessings that God gives us are endless and therefore our reasons to thank Him are endless.\u00a0 What about a cool drink on hot day, or a hot drink on a cold day?<\/p>\n

This Psalm reminds us to thank God for all the bad that did not happen, but could have.\u00a0 Maybe we just missed getting hit by a speeding truck.\u00a0 Or a tornado ripped up our neighborhood, but missed our house. Getting more personal, what about if a spouse, or a child did not wake up.\u00a0 Or if they had been kidnapped and harmed. \u00a0What if a speeding truck did not miss them?\u00a0 What if we, like Job, in one day lost all physical blessings?\u00a0 Family, there are endless things that could have happened yesterday that would have wounded our hearts, would have altered our lives, but did not.\u00a0 Most of us can think of something that we hope never happens, maybe many things. Do we ever thank God for His protection against those things?\u00a0 Do we ever thank God for what did not happen?\u00a0 They may be obvious, or not.\u00a0 It is easy to thank the Lord for the return home of loved one during a bad storm, or if we saw on the News that a nasty multi-car accident had occurred where our loved one was traveling, but they were not involved in the accident.\u00a0 We thank God for the bad that didn\u2019t happen.\u00a0 In the midst of tragedy, perhaps losing a loved one, we can thank God that we did not lost all our loved ones.\u00a0 We can also thank God that He said no to certain prayers that we later find out would have been very harmful to us. Let us think, for a moment, of all the things that go wrong if we had a \u201cJob scenario\u201d happen to us.\u00a0 What are the many blessings that could be lost?\u00a0 Scary, huh?\u00a0 In that case we know the Lord will sustain us if it is His will for us to continue living on this earth, but oh, if all the blessings were stripped away?\u00a0 Well, no one wants that.<\/p>\n

Family, the Lord protects us from evil every day.\u00a0 Endless are the reasons to thank Him.\u00a0 The Lord included in His model prayer \u201c\u2026but deliver us from the evil one<\/span>\u201d Matthew 6:19b<\/strong>.\u00a0 \u00a0Let us, as David did, consider the great loss, peril and evil that the Lord protects us from.\u00a0 Every breath we take is not something we have to think about.\u00a0 It is something that the Lord made our bodies to automatically do.\u00a0 We don\u2019t have to think, every successive moment \u201cBreathe in, Breathe out, Breathe in\u2026\u201d\u00a0 If we did, how could we sleep?\u00a0 No we don\u2019t have to think about breathing.\u00a0 Neither do we have to continuously worry about the Lord protecting us, He just does.\u00a0 That just is who He is.\u00a0 Praise the Lord!\u00a0 We ask for His protection throughout the day and in the asking, we remain grateful.\u00a0 We thank God for His protection throughout the day.\u00a0 We trust Him to bless us with life and its many blessings.\u00a0 We ought to consider all the things that are easy to take for granted and thank God.\u00a0 Amen, thank you Lord!\u00a0 Praise God!<\/p>\n

Psalm 150:6<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.\u00a0 Praise the Lord!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Micah 7:7<\/strong>\u00a0– But as for me, I watch\u00a0in hope\u00a0for the\u00a0Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear\u00a0me.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
