John 9:1-12\u00a0<\/b>–\u00a0As\u00a0Jesus\u00a0passed by, He saw a man\u00a0who had been\u00a0blind from birth.<\/span>\u00a02\u00a0And His disciples asked Him, \u201cRabbi, who sinned,\u00a0this man or his\u00a0parents, that he would be born blind?\u201d<\/span>\u00a03\u00a0Jesus answered,\u00a0<\/span>\u201cIt was\u00a0neither\u00a0that\u00a0this man sinned, nor his parents; but\u00a0it was\u00a0so that the works of God might be displayed in him.<\/span>\u00a04\u00a0We must carry out the works of Him who sent Me\u00a0as long as it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.<\/span>\u00a05\u00a0While I am in the world, I am\u00a0the Light of the world.\u201d<\/span>\u00a06\u00a0When He had said this, He\u00a0spit on the ground, and made mud from the saliva, and applied the mud to his eyes,<\/span>\u00a07\u00a0and said to him,\u00a0<\/span>\u201cGo, wash in\u00a0the pool of Siloam\u201d<\/span>\u00a0(which is translated, Sent). So he left and\u00a0washed, and\u00a0came\u00a0back\u00a0seeing.<\/span>\u00a08\u00a0So the neighbors, and those who previously saw\u00a0him as a beggar, were saying, \u201cIs this not the one who used to\u00a0sit and beg?\u201d<\/span>\u00a09\u00a0Others were saying, \u201cThis is he,\u201d\u00a0still\u00a0others were saying, \u201cNo, but he is like him.\u201d\u00a0The man himself kept saying, \u201cI am\u00a0the one.\u201d<\/span>\u00a010\u00a0So they were saying to him, \u201cHow then were your eyes opened?\u201d<\/span>\u00a011\u00a0He answered, \u201cThe man who is called Jesus made mud, and spread\u00a0it\u00a0on my eyes, and said to me,\u00a0<\/span>\u2018Go to\u00a0Siloam and wash\u2019<\/span>; so I went away and washed, and I received sight.\u201d<\/span>\u00a012\u00a0And they said to him, \u201cWhere is He?\u201d He *said, \u201cI do not know.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cAs\u00a0Jesus\u00a0passed by, He saw a man\u00a0who had been\u00a0blind from birth.<\/i><\/span>\u00a02\u00a0And His disciples asked Him, \u201cRabbi, who sinned,\u00a0this man or his\u00a0parents, that he would be born blind?\u201d<\/span><\/i>\u00a0\u00a0Yes, Jesus saw the man, but He was not surprised by seeing the man.\u00a0\u00a0He knew the man all of the man\u2019s life.\u00a0\u00a0(John 1:45-49<\/b>) He had heard his prayers.\u00a0\u00a0He knew where the man was led to beg.\u00a0\u00a0He knew the man, at times, wondered if God truly existed and if He did, was He really good as the man had been told.\u00a0\u00a0The man must have wondered why He was born blind and perhaps most horrid, why hadn\u2019t God had mercy on him and healed him?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tearing pieces from the man\u2019s heart was how people, his fellows who shared his faith and his citizenship, were too often unkind.\u00a0\u00a0He heard the remarks they made about him.\u00a0\u00a0He heard them talk about other people that were crippled since birth.\u00a0\u00a0If they said it about other people they probably accused his loving mother, his faithful father, and even he himself as guilty of being a sinner.\u00a0\u00a0People who said such uncaring things to him, were insensitive and accusing him even if they did not point the accusation at him.\u00a0\u00a0Yet he only knew his parents as faithful and godly people.\u00a0\u00a0The accusers\u2019 rational for people being born with such things as blindness was poisonous to his faith.\u00a0\u00a0Every accusation was as if on the tips of spears jabbed repeatedly into him.\u00a0\u00a0Oh those remarks, sometimes even from family members, added to his hurt.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cJesus answered,\u00a0<\/i><\/span>\u201cIt was\u00a0neither\u00a0that\u00a0this man sinned, nor his parents; but\u00a0it was\u00a0so that the works of God might be displayed in him.<\/i><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0But Jesus, likely within earshot of the man, said that sin was not the reason for the man\u2019s blindness, but rather that this man was born blind because he was to be used to show the glory of the Son of God and to magnify Him to the masses that they may know God\u2019s grace in their lives.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus did a work of mercy not only on this man, but also for everyone who witnessed the miraculous healing.\u00a0\u00a0Some glorify God by preaching, or by using a gifted singing voice, or talent with an instrument.\u00a0\u00a0People acknowledge their talent and clap for them.\u00a0\u00a0Yet most preachers, teachers, singers and musicians never know the depth of this man\u2019s suffering.\u00a0\u00a0They never had their faith attacked so deeply as this man.\u00a0\u00a0This man went through great pain to present God\u2019s glory in a way that shook his city and nation.\u00a0\u00a0In fact, for well over two thousand years people have seen the love and beauty of God included in the Gospel.\u00a0\u00a0How many untold millions have been blessed and encouraged by his testimony.\u00a0\u00a0This blind man glorified Jesus powerfully because He was a man born from birth and healed by the Jesus.\u00a0\u00a0Adding to that, this man did not, after being healed, berate Jesus and accuse God of unjustly using and abusing Him.\u00a0\u00a0Instead this man believed and defended Him. This man did not consider himself ill-treated by God, but blessed by God.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus not only healed him of his blindness, but also healed his heart and spirit.\u00a0\u00a0This man was not misused by God, but blessed by God to be so mightily used by Him. Oh to be used as Abraham, as Moses, as Paul and John were used.\u00a0\u00a0Also how blessed to be used by God as this blind man was.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must carry out the works of Him who sent Me\u00a0as long as it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.<\/i><\/span>\u2019\u00a0\u00a0It was the Father who sent Jesus to heal this man, to give witness to who Jesus was.\u00a0\u00a0The Father sent Jesus to heal the man and Jesus was committed to doing all the works the Father had for Him to do.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus was sent by the Father and Jesus obeyed His Father.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile I am in the world, I am\u00a0the Light of the world.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0\u00a0Jesus knew the time for Him to be in the world was limited.\u00a0\u00a0Limited not by any human, but by the predetermined plan of His Father.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus was to let His light shine, to expose darkness and reveal Truth.\u00a0\u00a0And Jesus was about to further fulfill that divine mission.\u00a0\u00a0To bring vision to the blind, both physically and spiritually.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>When He had said this, He\u00a0spit on the ground, and made mud from the saliva, and applied the mud to his eyes.<\/i><\/span>\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Remembering that this man was blind, he didn\u2019t see Jesus spit on the ground and mix it with His spit to make mud.\u00a0\u00a0All of a sudden a man was applying something to his eyes.\u00a0\u00a0It was an act of faith to not push Jesus away.\u00a0\u00a0Did he then know it was Jesus?\u00a0\u00a0Did he know who Jesus was?\u00a0\u00a0Maybe, but somehow he must have realized that God called him to do as this man was telling him to do.\u00a0\u00a0He obeyed.\u00a0\u00a0Understanding how what the person was applying to his eyes would work was not something he needed to know.\u00a0\u00a0He probably didn\u2019t know he would be healed.\u00a0\u00a0The blind man did not need to know how.\u00a0\u00a0He needed to trust and obey the who, the how didn\u2019t matter.\u00a0\u00a0And Family and Friends, that is our job.\u00a0\u00a0God has no obligation to explain to us and we have no right to demand an explanation.\u00a0\u00a0(Luke 17-7-19<\/b>)\u00a0\u00a0We must do as the blind man did, trust and obey.<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>And said to him,\u00a0<\/i><\/span>\u201cGo, wash in\u00a0the pool of Siloam\u201d<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(which is translated, Sent). So he left and\u00a0washed, and\u00a0came\u00a0back\u00a0seeing.<\/i><\/span>\u201d Jesus, without pomp and circumstance, simply sent him to wash off the mud.\u00a0\u00a0The man simply obeyed.\u00a0\u00a0Interesting that the pool was Siloam which meant \u201csent.\u201d The Father sent the Son.\u00a0\u00a0The Son sent the man and as the Son obeyed the Father, the man obeyed the Son.\u00a0\u00a0Simple, but folks that is how it works.\u00a0\u00a0No explanations need, just trusting and obeying.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo the neighbors, and those who previously saw\u00a0him as a beggar, were saying, \u201cIs this not the one who used to\u00a0sit and beg?\u201d<\/i><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0So people who knew this man were divided if it was he whom they had known.\u00a0\u00a0You know how you may have seen at work almost every day but sometimes can meet them on the street and not recognize them because you now see them in a different context.\u00a0\u00a0I suppose it was like that. They had seen this man as a poor beggar who was blind.\u00a0\u00a0Now they saw him as a fully functioning and capable man who was joyous and confident.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus changes people. He changes us, we are not what we once were and will not be what we now are. I hope people who haven\u2019t seen me in a while, who last saw me before becoming a Christian, now see me and declare \u2018Something is different about you!\u00a0\u00a0What is it?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0I love to tell them about Jesus!<\/p>\n

\u201cThe man himself kept saying, \u201cI am\u00a0the one.\u201d<\/i><\/span>\u00a010\u00a0So they were saying to him, \u201cHow then were your eyes opened?\u201d<\/span>\u00a011\u00a0He answered, \u201cThe man who is called Jesus made mud, and spread\u00a0it\u00a0on my eyes, and said to me,\u00a0<\/span>\u2018Go to\u00a0Siloam and wash\u2019<\/span>; so I went away and washed, and I received sight.\u201d<\/span>\u00a012\u00a0And they said to him, \u201cWhere is He?\u201d He *said, \u201cI do not know.\u201d<\/span><\/i>\u00a0\u00a0The man must have delighted every time the people wondered if it was he and he kept saying to them that it was indeed him.\u00a0\u00a0He told them what Jesus had done for Him so they asked Him where Jesus was, but the man did not know.\u00a0\u00a0What He knew is that He was once blind but then He could see.\u00a0\u00a0He could tell say what Jesus did, but he didn\u2019t know how it worked.\u00a0\u00a0He only knew who did the work and that was sufficient.\u00a0\u00a0You, know like our testimony.\u00a0\u00a0Praise our good and loving God!<\/span><\/p>\n
