John 7:3-5\u00a0<\/b>–\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>So His\u00a0brothers said to Him, \u201cMove on from here and go into Judea, so that Your\u00a0disciples also may see Your works which You are doing.<\/i><\/span>\u00a04\u00a0For no one does anything in secret\u00a0when he himself is striving to be\u00a0known\u00a0publicly. If You are doing these things, show Yourself to the world.\u201d<\/span>\u00a05\u00a0For not even His\u00a0brothers believed in Him.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cSo His\u00a0brothers said to Him, \u201cMove on from here and go into Judea, so that Your\u00a0disciples also may see Your works which You are doing. 4\u00a0For no one does anything in secret\u00a0when he himself is striving to be\u00a0known\u00a0publicly. If You are doing these things, show Yourself to the world.\u201d<\/i><\/span>\u00a05\u00a0For not even His\u00a0brothers believed in Him.<\/span><\/i>\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Two of the lessons that we can use from these verses are the following.\u00a0\u00a0The first is that we can learn from\u00a0John 15:18-25<\/b>\u00a0where Jesus tells us to not be surprised when the world hates us as followers of Him.\u00a0\u00a0Even people from our own family will mock us, not like us, or even hate us because of our close walk with Jesus.\u00a0\u00a0However let us not think that we do well if we don\u2019t cling tightly to scripture but instead deny His Word to please those of the world.\u00a0\u00a0We see this all around us.\u00a0\u00a0It would be awful to think oneself wise by denying the Word and then hearing, when face to face with Jesus, His words in\u00a0Matthew 7:23 (21-23<\/b>) \u201cI never knew you.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Let us not be those who cling to modern thought of mankind when it contradicts the Lord.<\/p>\n

Even today those who say they love us will turn against us, that includes family, friends and supposed fellow saints.\u00a0\u00a0Let us not be surprised at those who not only disagree with us about sound doctrine from scripture, but those who will hate us.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus\u2019 brothers and his neighbors rejected His words and His identity.\u00a0\u00a0Those who say they love us will do the same to us.<\/p>\n

Jesus continued to love those who doubted Him, He also died for them. Even His mother questioned His sanity and came with His brothers to do an intervention on Jesus because they had heard He was \u201cout of His mind.\u201d (Mark 3:21<\/b>) Only after His resurrection did two of His brothers (James and Jude) come to faith in Him and even write books in the New Testament. We have much evidence in scripture that, although concerned for a moment, Mary believed in Jesus as the Messiah during His life, even before His resurrection. In fact, she may have come with the brothers not with any doubt, but of a mother\u2019s concern.<\/p>\n

Jesus taught us in\u00a0John 15<\/b>\u00a0that people will not like us, even hate us, because we believe and follow what He said, treasuring Him and His word rather than what the world comes to believe.\u00a0\u00a0We follow Jesus and His words above and beyond the trends of the world.\u00a0\u00a0Should what the world says conflict with the Word of God, we believe the Word of God.\u00a0\u00a0As we see, even now science more and more begins to align with His Word.<\/p>\n

Jesus did not give up on those who mocked Him and didn\u2019t believe right away.\u00a0\u00a0He persisted in giving them His love and grace.\u00a0\u00a0In the end many more believed and followed.\u00a0\u00a0How much more so should we love and persist with grace even with those who seem violently against the faith.\u00a0\u00a0Many of us once resisted the Lord, but praise the Lord who was patient with us and so we are saved.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus said in\u00a0Matthew 5:44-45a<\/b>\u00a0\u201cBut I say to you,\u00a0love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,\u00a045\u00a0so that you may prove yourselves to be\u00a0sons of your Father who is in heaven.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0\u00a0Whether easy of hard be like Jesus, it is the will of the Father.\u00a0\u00a0Give glory to God by being obedient to Him.\u00a0\u00a0Praise God!<\/p>\n

Psalm 150:6<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.\u00a0 Praise the Lord!<\/i><\/p>\n

Micah 7:7<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0But as for me, I watch\u00a0in hope\u00a0for the\u00a0Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will Hear\u00a0me.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

Micah 6:8<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0He has\u00a0shown you, Oh man, what\u00a0is\u00a0good; and what does the\u00a0Lord\u00a0require of you, but\u00a0to do justly, to love\u00a0mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.<\/i><\/p>\n

Numbers 6:24-26<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0The\u00a0Lord\u00a0bless you and keep you; 25\u00a0The\u00a0Lord\u00a0make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26\u00a0The\u00a0Lord\u00a0turn His face\u00a0toward you and give you peace.<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
