1 John 1:8-10 –<\/b>\u00a0If we claim to be without sin,\u00a0we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.\u00a09\u00a0If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins\u00a0and purify us from all unrighteousness.\u00a010\u00a0If we claim we have not sinned,\u00a0we make him out to be a liar\u00a0and his word is not in us.<\/i><\/p>\n
Recently someone challenged my faith because the person said that they have heard me say that I sometimes sin.\u00a0\u00a0The person said that people who sin are not Christians.\u00a0\u00a0The person said that If we are really truly born-again then we no longer sin.\u00a0\u00a0Honestly I was taken aback.\u00a0\u00a0I knew that this person had wrong ideas about the faith, but this was totally off.\u00a0\u00a0The above verses pre-suppose that during this life on earth we all will continue to struggle with sin of one sort or another.\u00a0\u00a0If I were to say that I don\u2019t sin then I would either be a liar, deluded, or both and that statement would be in contradiction to the above verses.<\/p>\n
Should my temper unnecessarily flare up, as it sometimes does, and I have said to never allow ones temper to flare up, then I may be accused of being a hypocrite.\u00a0\u00a0Yet my words may be that we should try to never be unjustly angry, but that is a goal and process which the Lord builds in us.\u00a0\u00a0So know that I know I sin, in a variety of ways.\u00a0\u00a0So am I a hypocrite if I say to strive to not sin but then sin?\u00a0\u00a0No, I have said what is in the Word and I strive every day to not sin, and yet I know I am a sinner who only strives to not let the sure sin within me reign.\u00a0\u00a0(Romans 6:12<\/b>)\u00a0\u00a0I have the same lament as Paul the Apostle in\u00a0Romans 7:15<\/b>\u00a0\u201cI do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0\u00a0Yet I am saved by the grace of God through Jesus our Savior.\u00a0\u00a0Apostle Paul admitted he still sometime sinned.\u00a0\u00a0I still sin, but I know the Lord helps me to daily, increasingly, overcome it.\u00a0\u00a0Yet, in this flesh\u00a0\u201cI do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do\u2014this I keep on doing.\u201d\u00a0<\/i>\u00a0(Romans 7:19<\/b>)\u00a0\u00a0I also, as Paul did, I cry out\u00a0\u201cWhat a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/i>(Romans 7:24<\/b>)\u00a0\u00a0And the sin I sometimes do would make me crazy if not for the sure hope\u00a0\u201cThanks be to God, who delivers me though through Jesus Christ our Lord!\u201d<\/i>\u00a0\u00a0(Romans 7:25<\/b>)<\/p>\n
Family and Friends, the miracle of God\u2019s love to save us shines all the more brightly because He knew we could not stop sinning during this worldly life and yet He has loved us still.\u00a0\u00a0Not that He desires us to sin, but the fact that we continue to sin, and yet His love is stronger than our sins, makes the light of His glory shine brighter.\u00a0\u00a0Speaking as a man, we are not easy for a righteous God to love.\u00a0\u00a0But praise God He is not a man!\u00a0\u00a0Let us not be anthropomorphic in our thoughts of God, and thereby dishonor Him.\u00a0\u00a0He loves imperfect us.\u00a0\u00a0Oh how great is our God!\u00a0\u00a0Let us praise our Hero, our Lord, our great and wondrous Savior Jesus.\u00a0\u00a0Yes, be thankful and praise Him who made the way to go home, which is our great hope that Jesus gave us. (John 14:15<\/b>) Praise God!<\/p>\n
Psalm 150:6<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.\u00a0 Praise the Lord!<\/i><\/p>\n
Micah 7:7<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0But as for me, I watch\u00a0in hope\u00a0for the\u00a0Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will Hear\u00a0me.<\/i><\/p>\n
Micah 6:8<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0He has\u00a0shown you, Oh man, what\u00a0is\u00a0good; and what does the\u00a0Lord\u00a0require of you, but\u00a0to do justly, to love\u00a0mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.<\/i><\/p>\n
