Luke 22:63\u00a0\u2013<\/i><\/b>\u00a0Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking Him and beating Him.<\/i><\/p>\n
Mark 15-16-20<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0The soldiers took Him away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium), and they *called together the whole Roman cohort. They *dressed Him up in purple, and after twisting a crown of thorns, they put it on Him; and they began to acclaim Him, \u201cHail, King of the Jews!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0They kept beating His head with a reed, and spitting on Him, and kneeling and bowing before Him. After they had mocked Him, they took the purple robe off Him and put His own garments on Him. And they *led Him out to crucify Him.<\/i><\/p>\n
Matthew 27:22-26\u00a0<\/b>–\u00a0\u201cWhat shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?\u201d\u00a0Pilate asked.\u00a0<\/i>They all answered, \u201cCrucify him!\u201d 23\u00a0\u201cWhy? What crime has he committed?\u201d asked Pilate.\u00a0\u00a0<\/i>But they shouted all the louder, \u201cCrucify him!\u201d 24\u00a0When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar\u00a0was starting, he took water and washed his hands\u00a0in front of the crowd. \u201cI am innocent of this man\u2019s blood,\u201d\u00a0he said. \u201cIt is your responsibility!\u201d 25\u00a0All the people answered, \u201cHis blood is on us and on our children!\u201d\u00a0 26\u00a0Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged,\u00a0and handed him over to be crucified.<\/i><\/p>\n Matthew 27:50-54<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He gave up His spirit.\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/span>51\u00a0At that moment the curtain of the temple\u00a0was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split<\/i><\/span>\u00a052\u00a0and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life.<\/span>\u00a053\u00a0They came out of the tombs after Jesus\u2019 resurrection and\u00a0went into the holy city\u00a0and appeared to many people.\u00a0 54\u00a0When the centurion and those with him who were guarding\u00a0Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, \u201cSurely He was the Son of God!\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n The Savior knew what was coming, it was going to savagely hurt His body and He knew it.\u00a0\u00a0The people who would do it would laugh and every time He hurt they considered it their personal success.\u00a0\u00a0They wanted to break Him.\u00a0\u00a0Not just His body, but to sap His mind of any strength and reason.\u00a0\u00a0Also their goal was to destroy His emotions.\u00a0\u00a0They wanted the pain to destroy Him inside, they wanted to squeeze His heart and cause Him to cry out and agree to anything to just make the physical, mental and emotional pain stop.\u00a0\u00a0They wanted to embarrass Him, they wanted HIs soul.\u00a0\u00a0When He would look at them He would see they have no sympathy for Him.\u00a0\u00a0If their cruel hands brutalizing Him with horrific weapons were not enough, their eyes showed an evil hate of inhuman origin.\u00a0\u00a0They showed an evil not of this world but from dark souls with a dark lord pushing their hate to a fevered pitch.<\/p>\n Only their evil lord stops them from just running their sword through His heart.\u00a0\u00a0He does not want Him to have the relief of death.\u00a0\u00a0He is drunk on His pain.\u00a0\u00a0Right now he must do all he knows to do to humiliate Him.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus smelt the evil lord\u2019s fouls breath and heard his whispered hate in His ear.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus heard \u201cNo, you cannot die yet, I will break you.\u00a0\u00a0You will bow to me.\u201d<\/p>\n This evil lord makes the people whom He loved hate Him and turn against Him.\u00a0\u00a0They call for His death.\u00a0\u00a0They demand His death.<\/p>\n Near His last breath some who watch Him die, whom He still loves, taunt Him, defame Him, and long to see His final breath.\u00a0\u00a0They would cut open His chest and tear out His heart if they were allowed.\u00a0\u00a0In a long history of human evil and hurt the Savior witnesses the lowest level of human depravity as it is focused against Him.\u00a0\u00a0And yet, Jesus Christ is one hundred percent innocent of any wrong.\u00a0\u00a0In fact, He is beyond innocent as He has not only never committed wrong but has only done all things to help, for the good of others, and has loved.\u00a0\u00a0But His reward was their hate. Then.<\/p>\n The few who loved Him cried at His feet and were helpless to help.\u00a0\u00a0That hurt Him worse to see their pain.\u00a0\u00a0Oh, if only they fully understood.\u00a0\u00a0But He knew that the time for them to understand would come.\u00a0\u00a0He knew their overwhelming sadness would turn to the highest joy.\u00a0\u00a0But just not yet.<\/p>\n He could have stopped the pain and sorrow.\u00a0\u00a0But He was following a plan for the benefit of those who loved Him and incredibly, even for those who participated in His torture and death. He was obedient to the one whose plan was working out perfectly.\u00a0\u00a0He had not been defeated, He had begun the next step to the ultimate victory.\u00a0\u00a0He asked for forgiveness for the perpetrators.\u00a0\u00a0He willingly breathed His last breath and part one of His victory march, veiled to most, if not all at the time, was over and then He triumphantly moved forward.<\/p>\n I thank God I\u2019ve never had a day like that.\u00a0\u00a0And I will never have to have one because Jesus did it for me.\u00a0\u00a0For all of us.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus had the worst day possible looking forward to the best day for all that He loved.\u00a0\u00a0Also for all mankind. Amazing Grace!\u00a0\u00a0Thank you Jesus! And now, throughout the world, the day of remembrance is known as Good Friday.\u00a0\u00a0Perhaps it should be called The Best Friday.\u00a0\u00a0Only God could plan it and make it work out exactly as planned.\u00a0\u00a0Only God!\u00a0\u00a0Praise God!\u00a0\u00a0Thank you Jesus!<\/p>\n \nPsalm 150:6<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.\u00a0 Praise the Lord!<\/p>\n Micah 7:7<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0But as for me, I watch\u00a0in hope\u00a0for the\u00a0Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will Hear\u00a0me.<\/p>\n Micah 6:8<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0He has\u00a0shown you, Oh man, what\u00a0is\u00a0good; and what does the\u00a0Lord\u00a0require of you, but\u00a0to do justly, to love\u00a0mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.<\/p>\n Numbers 6:24-26<\/b>\u00a0The\u00a0Lord\u00a0bless you and keep you; 25\u00a0The\u00a0Lord\u00a0make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26\u00a0The\u00a0Lord\u00a0turn His face\u00a0toward you and give you peace.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Luke 22:63\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking Him and beating Him.
