In a small group meeting on 5\/20\/14 a question was asked about the difference between spiritual gifts and natural gifts.\u00a0 During the message given at church on 5\/25\/14 the Pastor referred to the below scripture in John.\u00a0 As he did the Lord reminded me of a question about spiritual gifts.\u00a0 I had one of those \u201cWow I could have had a V-8\u201d moments.\u00a0 Some verses that mention the spiritual gift of knowledge are\u00a01 Corinthians 12:8, 1 Corinthians 13:2 and 1 Corinthians 13:8<\/b>.\u00a0 These scriptures speak of the spiritual gift of knowledge, the spiritual and supernatural gift of knowledge that is from God and used through some, but not all.\u00a0 It is available to all, but this gift is used in ministry as God Himself decides. \u00a0The \u201cgifts of the Spirit (of God)\u201d are just that, from God, which mean He gives them to us as He determines.<\/p>\n
Pastor was referring to\u00a0John 1:43-51<\/b>\u00a0“43\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip,\u00a0he said to him,\u00a0\u201cFollow me.\u201d\u00a0\u00a044\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida.\u00a045\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>Philip found Nathanael\u00a0and told him, \u201cWe have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law,\u00a0and about whom the prophets also wrote\u2014Jesus of Nazareth,\u00a0the son of Joseph.\u201d\u00a046\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>\u201cNazareth! Can anything good come from there?”\u00a0Nathanael asked.\u00a0 \u201cCome and see,\u201d said Philip.\u00a0\u00a047\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him,\u00a0\u201cHere truly is an Israelite\u00a0in whom there is no deceit.\u201d\u00a048\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>\u201cHow do you know me?\u201d Nathanael asked.\u00a0 Jesus answered,\u00a0\u201cI saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.\u201d\u00a0\u00a049\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>Then Nathanael declared, \u201cRabbi,\u00a0you are the Son of God;\u00a0you are the king of Israel.\u201d\u00a0\u00a050\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>Jesus said,\u00a0\u201cYou believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.\u201d\u00a051\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>He then added,\u00a0\u201cVery truly I tell you,\u00a0you\u00a0will see \u2018heaven open,\u00a0and the angels of God ascending and descending\u00a0on\u2019\u00a0the Son of Man.\u201d\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n In these verses we see that Jesus told Nathaniel where he was when Philip found him. This is not something that can be done outside of this \u201cgift of knowledge\u201d that is from God.\u00a0 Nathaniel recognized that Jesus was telling him something that Jesus should not have known, except that Jesus had supernatural knowledge.\u00a0 Nathaniel then realized that Jesus was indeed, as Philip had said, \u201cthe one Moses wrote about in the Law,\u00a0and about whom the prophets also wrote.\u201d\u00a0 So, here is the supernatural gift of knowledge that through the Spirit of God is available for us.<\/p>\n Jesus did not only tell Nathaniel where he was, but He let Nathaniel know that Jesus knew Nathaniel even before Nathaniel had walked up to Him.\u00a0 Jesus called him \u201can Israelite\u00a0in whom there is no deceit.\u201d\u00a0 Again we see the spiritual gift of knowledge as Jesus knew Nathaniel before He had physically met Nathaniel.<\/p>\n Why is this gift available?\u00a0 For the purposes of God.\u00a0 These supernatural revelations are meant for a purpose of God.
