Isaiah 1:16-17<\/strong> – 16\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>Wash\u00a0and make yourselves clean.\u00a0 Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. 17\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>Learn to do right;\u00a0seek justice.\u00a0 Defend the oppressed.\u00a0 Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.<\/p>\n

James 1:27<\/strong> – Religion that God our Father accepts as pure\u00a0and\u00a0faultless is this: to look after\u00a0orphans\u00a0and widows\u00a0in their distress\u00a0and\u00a0to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.<\/p>\n

Matthew 25:31-46<\/strong> – 31\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>\u201cWhen the Son of Man comes\u00a0in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.\u00a032\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate\u00a0the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.\u00a033\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.\u00a0 34\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>\u201cThen the King will say to those on his right, \u2018Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom\u00a0prepared for you since the creation of the world.\u00a035\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,\u00a036\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>I needed clothes and you clothed me,\u00a0I was sick and you looked after me,\u00a0I was in prison and you came to visit me.\u2019\u00a0 37\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>\u201cThen the righteous will answer him, \u2018Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?\u00a038\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?\u00a039\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?\u2019\u00a0 40\u00a0<\/strong><\/sup>\u201cTHE KING WILL REPLY, \u2018TRULY I TELL YOU, WHATEVER YOU DID FOR ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF MINE, YOU DID FOR ME.<\/strong>\u2019\u00a0 41\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>\u201cThen he will say to those on his left, \u2018Depart from me,\u00a0you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.\u00a042\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,\u00a043\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.\u2019\u00a0 44\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>\u201cThey also will answer, \u2018Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?\u2019\u00a0 45\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>\u201cHE WILL REPLY, \u2018TRULY I TELL YOU, WHATEVER YOU DID NOT DO FOR ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE, YOU DID NOT DO FOR ME.\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0 46\u00a0<\/sup><\/b>\u201cThen they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Today I saw a picture of an Iraqi orphan girl. \u00a0She had drawn a picture of a mommy on the sidewalk and then fell asleep on top of the picture of that mommy that she so desperately wanted. \u00a0Devastating! \u00a0Sometimes, I look at all I have and say \u201cFor what?\u201d\u00a0 Seeing this picture of this little girl, or so many other tragic pictures like this one, on what do I place value?\u00a0 When I stand before God, where greed and selfishness do not stand, what will my excuse be?\u00a0 Because I am saved by grace I withheld compassion?\u00a0 Because He loves me is it okay that I enjoy all of God’s blessings while others that He loves starve for life\u2019s necessities, most important of these, love.\u00a0 There are no excuses in heaven.\u00a0 No, I am certain I will be welcomed into His kingdom with open arms and at the same time, ashamed that I didn\u2019t have enough of His love to lead a more spartan life that I might share practical love with others.\u00a0 I am speaking about me.\u00a0 This is my confession.\u00a0 Lord please re-make my selfish heart that withholds what I could give if I would sacrifice more, and I could sacrifice so very much more.\u00a0 Lord I enjoy the love you express to my spirit, my soul, and in all the practical ways like food to eat, drink to quench thirst, and a place to live.\u00a0 Forgive me for being a dam, rather than a conduit of your love, to so many who have greater needs than I do.<\/p>\n
