They called the apostles in and had them flogged.\u00a0Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.\u00a0\u00a0<\/i><\/span><i>41\u00a0The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing\u00a0because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.42\u00a0Day after day, in the temple courts\u00a0and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news\u00a0that Jesus is the Messiah.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2366527943ydpdec05937MsoNoSpacing\"><span class=\"yiv2366527943ydpdec05937text\">Pastor Jon Courson (Pastor of Applegate Christian Fellowship in Oregon), in his New Testament Application Commentary wrote (concerning the above verses) \u201cWinston Churchill once defined a fanatic as someone who can\u2019t change his mind and won\u2019t change the subject.\u00a0 That\u2019s what these guys did.\u00a0 They wouldn\u2019t their minds and they didn\u2019t change the subject.\u00a0 Knowing Jesus is the Lord, they kept talking about Him wherever they went.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2366527943ydpdec05937MsoNoSpacing\"><span class=\"yiv2366527943ydpdec05937text\">I love this brief commentary of\u00a0<b>V\u2019s 40-42<\/b>\u00a0how the Apostles and in general, the early church, were not persuaded by anybody to do as Jesus had commanded in the \u201cGreat Commission\u201d that Jesus gave to all His followers to take the Gospel throughout the world (<b>Matthew 28:18-20<\/b>).\u00a0 Because they could not be kept silent the Gospel spread throughout the world and the world truly became a better place for all in the world.\u00a0 The Gospel, a revelation of love, did not change everybody, but did change countless millions since the onset of the Church.\u00a0 Yes, there have been many errors, many horrors by the church, but nevertheless God has used the church to bless the world.\u00a0 The primary way is the sharing of the Gospel.\u00a0 Nothing is more important than if a person will end up in Heaven or in Hell.\u00a0 Let\u2019s not be dissuaded!\u00a0 Let\u2019s not be shut up!\u00a0 Let\u2019s be, as the Apostles and first generation followers of Jesus were, fanatics.\u00a0 Sounds great!\u00a0 Praise God!<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"yiv2366527943ydpdec05937yiv8739318158ydp5f36d124msonospacing\"><b>Psalm 150:6<\/b>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<i>Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.\u00a0 Praise the Lord!<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2366527943ydpdec05937yiv8739318158ydp5f36d124msonospacing\"><b>Micah 7:7<\/b>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<i>But as for me, I watch\u00a0in hope\u00a0for the\u00a0Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear\u00a0me.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv2366527943ydpdec05937yiv8739318158ydp5f36d124msonospacing\"><b>Micah 6:8<\/b>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<i>He has shown You, O man, what\u00a0is\u00a0good; And what does the\u00a0Lord\u00a0require of You but to do justly, to love mercy, And to walk humbly with Your God.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Acts 5:40-42\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0His speech persuaded them.
