John 14:1<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0Do not let your hearts be troubled.\u00a0You believe\u00a0in God;\u00a0believe also in me.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Trouble free hearts are the blessing of those who call Jesus \u201cSavior and Lord.\u201d\u00a0 Not trouble free lives, but trouble free hearts.\u00a0 Trouble free minds.\u00a0 Those blessings are what Jesus Himself said that His followers would have. \u00a0That does not mean that tragedy in this life will not come into our lives.\u00a0 We know that many people will do wrong things to us but it is not an excuse to be angry and to sin.\u00a0 We can\u2019t say we punched someone because of what they said, no matter what they say.\u00a0 If we respond by hitting we make that choice in response to what the person said.\u00a0 They have nothing to do with our actions, only their own.\u00a0 We make the decision how to react.<\/div>\n

On Monday night, while driving my Mom to the Bible Study at my house, I was talking and joking with her.\u00a0 I asked her about a Spanish word that means \u201clazy.\u201d\u00a0 Then she said I hope no one called you that.\u00a0 I said no, and then jokingly said to her (and she understood I was joking) \u201cwhat should I do if they do?\u00a0 Should I punch them in the nose or actually stop being lazy?\u201d\u00a0 I started to laugh and expected her also do so (as she normally would do).\u00a0 Instead of her usual comedic return she said to me \u201cNo, you don\u2019t act badly to people who say mean things.\u00a0 You stay above that.\u00a0 You stay yourself.\u00a0 Let God deal with them.\u201d\u00a0 She stopped me cold.\u00a0 Though she would normally joke with me (knowing that I don\u2019t really want to hurt anyone) and say \u201cyeah, sock them in the nose.\u201d\u00a0 It is her usual humor (which has a not so veiled \u201cdon\u2019t hurt my son\u201d sentiment behind it).\u00a0 Her words were a reminder of our Lord\u2019s words to do good to those who do us wrong.\u00a0 I thank God for my Mom!<\/p>\n

So we don\u2019t get lash out at people who hurt us and then try to claim that it was their fault and not ours.\u00a0 We are responsible for our own actions, all of them.\u00a0 I\u2019ve learned many a hard lesson about that.\u00a0 It is also true that when hard times come, when the sucker punches of life give us a good one, we are responsible for how we will react.\u00a0 Will we react with our own thoughts and will, or we will react as Jesus called us to.\u00a0 Let us pray for ourselves and for each other that we will respond as Jesus called us to.\u00a0 To have confidence, to have faith in Him.\u00a0 That when hard times come we don\u2019t deny that hard times have come, but we seek out the eternal peace and comfort that comes from knowing that nothing on this earth can change the fact that Jesus is our Savior and Lord and He will bring us home \u201cAnd if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you may be where I am.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0(John 14:3<\/b>)<\/p>\n

Jesus is right.\u00a0 My Momma is right because she believes Jesus.\u00a0 I\u2019m not perfect, you\u2019re not perfect, heck, even my Momma is not perfect.\u00a0 But Jesus was and is.\u00a0 He has given Himself to us as an eternal gift that no-one can take from us.\u00a0 So, trouble may overwhelm me like a tidal wave, but my eyes are on eternity where I will always be with God.\u00a0 And that will keep me in peace now, and forever.\u00a0 Praise God!<\/p>\n
