Proverbs 29:13<\/b>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0The poor and the oppressor have this in common: The\u00a0Lord\u00a0gives sight to the eyes of both.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

An old man, a simple man, sat at a table at the same restaurant that he frequently visits.\u00a0 He sits by himself, as he is often found doing.\u00a0 He likes the restaurant because it seems like it is always filled with people.\u00a0 There is a lot of laughter and smiles on the patrons and the staff.\u00a0 It is a friendly place with fair prices and good food.\u00a0 The old man prefers to sit by the window that faces the street.\u00a0 The street is a passage for many pedestrians.\u00a0 The old man gazes at people in the restaurant and those who are passing by on the street.\u00a0 Whenever he catches someone\u2019s eyes, he smiles at them and, most often, they smile back.<\/div>\n

When the line to be seated begins to lengthen the old man tells the waitress to feel free to ask if anyone is in a hurry and would like to sit at the table with him, because they would be welcome.\u00a0 Sometimes someone is in a hurry and takes up that offer.\u00a0 The old man is never in a hurry.<\/p>\n

Today a sharply dressed young man took the offer and was seated at the table.\u00a0 He had quickly looked the old man over and then, even before sitting down, was already placing his order.\u00a0 As he was sitting down he added to Judy (the waitress) \u201cAnd when you place my order, let them know that I am in rush.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe didn\u2019t say please when he asked for his hurried order and he didn\u2019t say thank you\u201d the old man noted.\u00a0 The old man smiled and held out his hand to the table-guest and offered \u201cI am Howard.\u00a0 Pleased to share a table with you.\u201d\u00a0 The young man looked at his hand and hesitated before shaking it.\u00a0 He did manage to give Howard an obligatory quick smile but the young man\u2019s eyes never really noticed Howard as he clearly had other thoughts on his mind.\u00a0 The young man also did not reveal his name to Howard.<\/p>\n

Howard smiled back at his table companion. Smiling, he said to the young man \u201cI suppose you come here often?\u201d<\/p>\n

The young man merely responded \u201cyup.\u201d\u00a0 Howard noticed the young man was now looking at him in a studying way.\u00a0 The young man was indeed looking Howard over and making snap judgments about him.\u00a0 The young man was actually quite perceptive.\u00a0 He noticed that Howard\u2019s clothing was outdated but was clean and fairly well preserved.\u00a0 He noticed an ever slight tremble of Howard\u2019s hands and head.\u00a0 Also he judged that Howard was clearly friendly and someone who enjoyed and was adept at communicating with people.\u00a0 Howard had an ease and calm that was easy to observe.\u00a0 The young man figured this man would probably want to wear out his ear before the his meal was done.\u00a0 The young man assessed that this old man was not destitute, but also not financially loaded.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, me too.\u00a0\u00a0 I come her often.\u00a0 In fact, I think I remember previously seeing you\u201d Howard offered though his ever present smile.<\/p>\n

\u201cReally?\u201d The young man did not like that this man seemed to be observing him from his perch in the restaurant.\u00a0 He wondered if he should be concerned but then decided that Howard was just a lonely old guy.\u00a0 The young man thought to himself \u201cI hope that I never get to be a lonely old man.\u00a0 The young man had no desire to know Howard.\u00a0 The young man is actually able to be quite charming to people.\u00a0 He is very disarming when he wants to be, when it is to his advantage.\u00a0 The young man is able to discern the vulnerable, the lonely, and the wealthy.\u00a0 These are the people he likes to meet and fall into the good graces of.\u00a0 He has a purpose for them.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes!\u201d Howard enthusiastically responded.\u00a0 Howard wanted to find common ground with this young man. \u00a0He continued \u201cYou didn\u2019t happen to mention your name.\u00a0 May I know it?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLook mister\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHoward.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOkay, look Howard, as I told the waitress I am in a hurry.\u00a0 I\u2019m really not interested in any conversation.\u00a0 I just want a quick bite and then I have somewhere to be.\u00a0 I really would not like conversation.\u00a0 May we just eat our meals with the conversation.<\/div>\n

\u201cOkay young man\u201d Howard replied.\u00a0 Yet Howard continued, much to the annoyance of the young man, to sometimes look at the young man and smile.<\/p>\n

Soon the young man was finished with his meal and rushed off without a word or a thank you to Howard for sharing his table.\u00a0 Howard smiled at the young man as he left.\u00a0 His smile was met with the man\u2019s back.<\/p>\n

Howard soon finished his meal.\u00a0 He thanked Judy for the great service and for always having a big friendly smile for him.\u00a0 Judy, a very kind person who makes everyone feel valued, gave him a big hug and told him to \u201ccome back soon.\u201d\u00a0 He liked Judy.\u00a0 He even liked the young man and Howard said a prayer for Him as he exited the restaurant.<\/p>\n

Two people who both are blessed by eyes.\u00a0\u00a0 What they see is very different because of their hearts.\u00a0 The young man takes his eyesight for granted.\u00a0 Howard thanks God for his eyesight.\u00a0 God above gave both of them sight.\u00a0 God offers His blessings to all.\u00a0 Not all are thankful.<\/p>\n

God is good all the time and He loves us.\u00a0 Praise the Lord!<\/div>\n

Psalm 150:6<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.\u00a0 Praise the Lord!<\/i><\/p>\n

Micah 7:7<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0But as for me, I watch\u00a0in hope\u00a0for the\u00a0Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear\u00a0me.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

Micah 6:8<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0He has shown You, O man, what\u00a0is\u00a0good; And what does the\u00a0Lord\u00a0require of You but to do justly, to love mercy, And to walk humbly with Your God.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
