John 14:1-4\u00a0<\/b>–\u00a0Do not let your hearts be troubled.\u00a0You believe\u00a0in God[a<\/a>];\u00a0believe also in me.\u00a02\u00a0My Father\u2019s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there\u00a0to prepare a place for you?3\u00a0And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back\u00a0and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.\u00a04\u00a0You know the way to the place where I am going.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/i><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n
J<\/b>ames 4:14<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.<\/i><\/div>\n

\u00a0Psalm 144:4<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0They are like a breath; their days are like a fleeting shadow.<\/p>\n

My Nephew Jacob Cerna yesterday died at the age of 32 from Asthma.\u00a0 He is my sister Terri\u2019s and his father Jesse\u2019s youngest child.\u00a0 He was an accomplished and creative musician.\u00a0 Yes, many knew him because of his musical talent, even his stage name \u201cPhamiliar,\u201d but for those who knew whom well they will remember his quick smile and his almost as quick laugh.\u00a0 He was loved by thousands and equally true is that he loved them all either first, but certainly right back.\u00a0 What his family thinks right now is that, most importantly, he loved Jesus as his Savior and Lord.\u00a0 We are not na\u00efve about Jacobs struggles, but we know that God looks at the heart.\u00a0\u00a01 Samuel 16:7<\/b>\u00a0aptly describes how God also viewed Jacob, that He looked at Jacob\u2019s heart, \u201cThe LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.<\/i>”\u00a0 And Jacob would be quick to point out that God looks at all of us in this way.\u00a0\u00a0 Yes, Jacob had a great smile, an inclusive laugh, and a hug that was most always accompanied by an \u201chmmm, I love you Uncle Bobby.\u201d\u00a0 And I will, for now, cherish the memory of that.\u00a0 My biggest thought that I cherish about Jacob is his love for the Lord.\u00a0 That is my greatest comfort because it means that I will see him again.<\/p>\n

King David loved the Lord and often wrote and sang of that love.\u00a0 David made lots of mistakes and yet the David could confidently state \u201cKeep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings.\u201d\u00a0<\/i>(Psalm 17:8<\/b>).\u00a0 It is written that David was a man after God\u2019s heart (Acts 13:22<\/b>).\u00a0 Jacob was a lot like David.\u00a0 He, like me, has made his mistakes, but his heart belonged to God.\u00a0 David sought the heart of God and found it.\u00a0 I believe Jacob likewise did.\u00a0 I read that his friends write of the love and friendship Jacob gave. \u00a0What we were seeing is what he had received and then passed on to us, the love of God.\u00a0 Because he loved the Lord, Jacob is now with him.\u00a0 No doubt about it.\u00a0 Sure we will miss Jacob, we already do, but we are confident that because we belong to Jesus, we will also see Jacob again.\u00a0 After tragically sinning King David said of his child that passed away \u201c\u2026I will go to him, but he will not return to me.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0(2 Samuel 12:23<\/b>)\u00a0 As we think of Him, we know He is with God.\u00a0 As much as we will miss him, we know that he is where he belongs and he is full of joy, smiling that smile and laughing that laugh.\u00a0 He again sees his grandpa and undoubtedly will give to him one of those Jacob hugs that just made us all feel better.\u00a0 We will miss Jacob.\u00a0 But we will not mourn him.\u00a0 That would be silly.\u00a0 No we will mourn not seeing him again in this world.\u00a0 But all who love Jesus will see him again.\u00a0 I\u2019m looking forward to that.\u00a0 As Jesus promised in\u00a0John 14<\/b>, He is coming back for all who love and follow him.\u00a0 It is the great hope of all who serve the Lord.\u00a0 Jacob is with Jesus.\u00a0 Soon all us who love Jesus will see Jesus, and behind the Lord, smiling at us when we arrive, will be Jacob, who will be hardly be able to contain his desire to run to us and hug and love on us.\u00a0 It will be a great moment.\u00a0 And importantly, I am sure that if Jacob could say anything to all of us now it would be for all to love and serve Jesus so he can hug all of you.<\/p>\n

Such is the hope he had and we have in Jesus.\u00a0 Let us be faithful to God who is always faithful to us.\u00a0 To the Lord, we say thank you and come soon.\u00a0 To Jacob \u201cWe\u2019ll see you then.\u201d\u00a0 No doubt whatsoever.<\/p>\n
