Revelation 18:9-20\u00a0<\/b>–\u00a0\u201cWhen the kings of the earth who committed adultery with her\u00a0and shared her luxury\u00a0see the smoke of her burning, they will weep and mourn over her.<\/i><\/span>\u00a010\u00a0Terrified at her torment, they will stand far off\u00a0and cry: \u201c\u2018Woe! Woe to you, great city, you mighty city of Babylon!\u00a0 In one hour\u00a0your doom has come!\u2019\u00a0 11\u00a0\u201cThe merchants\u00a0of the earth will weep and mourn\u00a0over her because no one buys their cargoes anymore\u2014<\/span>\u00a012\u00a0cargoes of gold, silver, precious stones and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet cloth; every sort of citron wood, and articles of every kind made of ivory, costly wood, bronze, iron and marble;<\/span>\u00a013\u00a0cargoes of cinnamon and spice, of incense, myrrh and frankincense, of wine and olive oil, of fine flour and wheat; cattle and sheep; horses and carriages; and human beings sold as slaves. 14\u00a0\u201cThey will say, \u2018The fruit you longed for is gone from you. All your luxury and splendor have vanished, never to be recovered.\u2019<\/span>\u00a015\u00a0The merchants who sold these things and gained their wealth from her\u00a0will stand far off,\u00a0terrified at her torment. They will weep and mourn<\/span>\u00a016\u00a0and cry out: \u201c\u2018Woe! Woe to you, great city, dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet, and glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls! 17\u00a0In one hour\u00a0such great wealth has been brought to ruin!\u2019 \u201cEvery sea captain, and all who travel by ship, the sailors, and all who earn their living from the sea,\u00a0will stand far off.18\u00a0When they see the smoke of her burning,\u00a0they will exclaim, \u2018Was there ever a city like this great city?\u2019<\/span>\u00a019\u00a0They will throw dust on their heads,\u00a0and with weeping and mourning\u00a0cry out: \u201c\u2018Woe! Woe to you, great city, where all who had ships on the sea became rich through her wealth!\u00a0 In one hour she has been brought to ruin!\u2019 20\u00a0\u201cRejoice over her, you heavens! Rejoice, you people of God! Rejoice, apostles and prophets! For God has judged her with the judgment she imposed on you.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cThey will say, \u2018The fruit you longed for is gone from you. All your luxury and splendor have vanished, never to be recovered.\u2019<\/i>\u201d<\/i>\u00a0\u00a0All that Babylon lived for is gone.\u00a0\u00a0Just as people strive to live in the most expensive houses, in the best neighborhoods, have the highest paying jobs, drive the most luxurious or exotic or fast cars, if they don\u2019t have Jesus, it is all for nothing.\u00a0\u00a0They have sand in hands too feeble to keep it from falling through their fingers.\u00a0\u00a0Worse is when a Christian does this without perspective.\u00a0\u00a0It is beautiful to see the Lord bless a person with riches and the person remains humble, lives humble and uses the riches as the Lord directs.\u00a0\u00a0But when such people become proud of their, when they get \u201cthat\u201d look in their eyes (Proverbs 6:16-17<\/b>), when fellow believers just don\u2019t interest them unless they are in their same status, then that believer better be careful.\u00a0\u00a0What is within them is beginning to look more like Babylon than Jesus.\u00a0\u00a0Does the believer who is poor not merit an invitation to their home and to have a meal, or a swim in the pool because they are embarrassing or because they have nothing in common (ouch)?\u00a0\u00a0Be very careful, that poor person is a precious child of God.\u00a0\u00a0Jesus said that he who rejects the Father\u2019s Son shall find themselves rejected.\u00a0\u00a0How about those who reject, or just don\u2019t love, these precious children of God (Matthew 25:31-46<\/b>).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Family, the riches of this world are like trying to clench water in a fist.\u00a0\u00a0After time, it is all gone.\u00a0\u00a0Such is what will happen to Babylon and such is what happens with all who think like her and defend her life view.\u00a0\u00a0God forbid that it would me any of us!<\/p>\n

A note aside.\u00a0\u00a0Family, let\u2019s not be guilty of economic prejudice and thereby sin ourselves.\u00a0\u00a0The poor are often very haughty and accusing when looking at the rich.\u00a0\u00a0They assume that those with money are not good Christians.\u00a0\u00a0I have heard this too many times.\u00a0\u00a0Family, that is not true.\u00a0\u00a0There are many wonderful Christians with great amounts of wealth who listen to God\u2019s leading and use their blessings to bless God\u2019s work and to bless others.\u00a0\u00a0Now, they aren\u2019t looking for others \u201copinions\u201d on how they should do that.\u00a0\u00a0They are being led by God.\u00a0\u00a0Let us assume the best about each other (1 Corinthians 13:7<\/b>).\u00a0\u00a0If we have \u201cconcerns\u201d about each other, than earnestly and persistently pray for each other.\u00a0\u00a0It is what we are called to do (Ephesians 6:18<\/b>).\u00a0\u00a0Let us truthfully strive to live in peace with each other (Romans 12:14<\/b>). Love each other! (John 15:12<\/b>).\u00a0\u00a0When God\u2019s children \u201cget-a-long\u201d, when they love each other, He is very pleased! Praise our God!<\/p>\n

Psalm 150:6<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.\u00a0 Praise the Lord!<\/i><\/p>\n

Micah 7:7<\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0But as for me, I watch\u00a0in hope\u00a0for the\u00a0Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear\u00a0me.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n
