• About Bob 4 God

11-10-13 – At different times I have been asked if I had a blog, or if I had thought of doing one. Well it’s been on my mind. Okay, sometimes it stays in my head for a long time before I act! In preparation I had bought and kept certain domain names. Recently my son Julian told me again that I should do a blog. So, in hopes that I am being obedient to God, I took Julian’s advise. I hope that it is a blessing to God, and to you. Should anything in here be a blessing to you, then I pray that God, and only God, is praised.

    • May 26thJesus and the Gift of Knowledge

In a small group meeting on 5/20/14 a question was asked about the difference between spiritual gifts and natural gifts.  During the message given at church on 5/25/14 the Pastor referred to the below scripture in John.  As he did the Lord reminded me of a question about spiritual gifts.  I had one of those “Wow I could have had a V-8” moments.  Some verses that mention the spiritual gift of knowledge are 1 Corinthians 12:8, 1 Corinthians 13:2 and 1 Corinthians 13:8.  These scriptures speak of the spiritual gift of knowledge, the spiritual and supernatural gift of knowledge that is from God and used through some, but not all.  It is available to all, but this gift is used in ministry as God Himself decides.  The “gifts of the Spirit (of God)” are just that, from God, which mean He gives them to us as He determines.

Pastor was referring to John 1:43-51 “43 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow me.”  44 Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. 45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” 46 “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked.  “Come and see,” said Philip.  47 When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, “Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.” 48 “How do you know me?” Nathanael asked.  Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.”  49 Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.”  50 Jesus said, “You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.” 51 He then added, “Very truly I tell you, you will see ‘heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on’ the Son of Man.”

In these verses we see that Jesus told Nathaniel where he was when Philip found him. This is not something that can be done outside of this “gift of knowledge” that is from God.  Nathaniel recognized that Jesus was telling him something that Jesus should not have known, except that Jesus had supernatural knowledge.  Nathaniel then realized that Jesus was indeed, as Philip had said, “the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote.”  So, here is the supernatural gift of knowledge that through the Spirit of God is available for us.

Jesus did not only tell Nathaniel where he was, but He let Nathaniel know that Jesus knew Nathaniel even before Nathaniel had walked up to Him.  Jesus called him “an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.”  Again we see the spiritual gift of knowledge as Jesus knew Nathaniel before He had physically met Nathaniel.

Why is this gift available?  For the purposes of God.  These supernatural revelations are meant for a purpose of God. They must be used as God leads or we are rebelling against what God would have us do.  The gifts of God are for His purposes.

I pray that you never disobey, as I did about thirty years ago:  At work there was a very attractive lady who unfortunately also had a bit of a “reputation”.  While I would say hello and exchange pleasantries with her, sometimes even witnessing to her, I tried not to take too much time talking to her.  I didn’t want the others to whom I was witnessing to think I was making advances toward her.

One day the Lord clearly let me know that she was in search of Him and I was to share Him with her.  Tragically I guarded my witness and didn’t share the gospel.

After the weekend this lady, with her face beaming, came running up to me.  She excitedly told how she had went to church with a friend and was very happy as they were talking about Jesus.  She told me the name of the church she had attended and I recognized it as a cult.  I was now in a very bad situation as I tried to tell her that there are a lot of good Christian churches, but that the one she was going to was not one of them.  She was hurt by what I tried to tell her.  She went home and talked to the people of the cult church she had visited with.  They told her not to talk to me and she, for the most part, didn’t.

I had lost the opportunity to minister to this soul after God had given me a word of knowledge about her.  I was devastated and the pain and shame of my disobedience to God remains with me.  I hope to never disobey in such a way again.

We always pray that we don’t disobey God.  I pray that after receiving a word of knowledge from the Lord I never again disobey.

What I intended to share is that the gifts of the Spirit are supernatural, and not natural gifts.  What the Lord exhibited to Nathaniel is the gift of knowledge.  That gift is still available to us today, for God’s purposes.

Oh Almighty God, indeed You are a wild God.  Your beginning does not exist and You have no end.  You seek no council and Your decisions are perfect.  Men want to define You and control You.  There are those who would put You in a box and put You on display as they have assessed who You are.  Yet that is foolishness.  There are no molds for You.  You are who You are and You will be who You will be.  There is only one God, none before You and none after You.  None stands beside You, none resides above You, none can sneak up behind You, none can undermine You and none can stand before You and prevent Your going forth.  Men domesticate animals and make them into something they can understand.  Men want to domesticate You.  They say to us “This is God” and put their image of You on display for us.  They know nothing.   You, oh God, cannot be contained, defined, controlled or limited.   You, oh God, are not a wild animal that can be domesticated to obey their will or to fit their feeble image of You.    Men do not change You, as if You needed to be changed.  You change men.   You are perfect and there are no imperfections to remove.  It is You who change men to move them to be more like You, perfect.  Precious Lord, it is blasphemous to remake You.  It is arrogance and ignorance that motivates the effort.  We do not define You, You define us.  That is as it should be.  You, my Lord and my God, are indeed a wild God.

2 Corinthians 4:6-7 – “For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.  7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.”

2 Chronicles 16:9a –  “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”

As the Lord looks over the earth looking for “those whose heart are fully committed to him”, do His eyes suddenly stop and focus on you? With His gaze fixed on you does He say, “There’s one right there!”  Oh Lord mold me and make me to be one that stops your eyes as you search for those who are completely yours!  Oh Lord, my heart bleeds that You might know me as completely yours!  For in your knowledge is truth of the fact.

    • May 3rdFamiliar Spirit

My son Ray got me going on the subject, stirring up intriguing memories.

Nimrod, one who rebelled against God, and great warrior of antiquity (see Genesis 10, 1 Chronicles 1, Micah 5) is mentioned in the Antiquities of the Jews, Book 1, Chapter 4, Verse Two: 2. Now it was Nimrod who excited them to such an affront and contempt of God. He was the grandson of Ham, the son of Noah, a bold man, and of great strength of hand. He persuaded them not to ascribe it to God, as if it was through his means they were happy, but to believe that it was their own courage which procured that happiness. He also gradually changed the government into tyranny, seeing no other way of turning men from the fear of God, but to bring them into a constant dependence on his power.”

Nimrod is also considered a type for the future Antichrist. Hmmm, a man, who arrives to impose tyranny, enslaves people by putting them in dependence on the government. He also removes all vestiges of God, and the fear of God, from the government.

Sound familiar? Make your decision if the spirit of the Antichrist is alive or not, I’m not calling anyone the Antichrist, I’m just putting out food for thought. People, please, wisdom cries out for consideration.

    • May 3rdPearl of Great Price

Lord, how wonderful to walk with You,

To have the beauty of knowing You!

Oh Lord, great Pearl, oh great Treasure,

I abandon all for Your gaze,

      Simply for your gaze!

Your approval is too much to ask for,

And yet, I grasp it tight and will not let go!

I would rather live in the outskirts of Your kingdom,

Then in the throne room of the world.

It is better to be in Your will working Your fields,

Then to rest on soft pillows in the mansions of the world.

With great fervor and an exalted voice I shout Your praises!

Who is like the Lord?  Who shall stand beside Him?

Oh God, great and mighty God, I fall before You!

In knowing You I receive who You are.

In knowing who You are and loving You,

I rest in You, greatest of all servants!

For always You have served Your creation.

      Creating us you blessed us!

Having created us you have guided us.

Guiding us you have protected us.

When we fell, you instantly began to heal us.

      Healing us You gave Yourself.

Giving Yourself, You redeemed to perfection,

Perfection coming in the completion of Your love,

      Displayed to us before creation,

Demonstrated to us from dust to eternity,

Always, Your love has been on display.

Where Your love is, that is where You serve.

Ultimate love and service found in the form of Jesus,

      Jesus revealing You.

      Jesus the Servant to God,

      He came to serve,

Serving He humbled Himself before His creation.

Oh this knowledge explodes within me,

It is too wonderful for me!

Following Him I long to serve You,

To serve You and Your creation,

To love God and that giving birth to loving others.

I would rather live in the outskirts of Your kingdom,

Then in the throne room of the world.

It’s ironic that those who claim to not believe are those who are helping to usher in the prophecy proclaimed by Jesus. This prophecy is being lived out today because one holds to the truth of God and another will not. Pray for those who will not see, who prefer darkness to light.

Mark 13:12-13 – 12 “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. 13 Everyone will hate you because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

      Let’s live up to this!
Matthew 5:43-48 – 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Proverbs 24:17-18 – 17 Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles; 18 Lest the Lord see it, and it displease Him, And He turn away His wrath from him.
God has assured that a day of recompense for the evil will come. Let us dread that day for them. Those who hide their eyes and cover their ears lest they see the light and hear the truth. Let us have for them the fear of God that they should have. Let us fear as they should and truly pray like we love them. Perhaps their hardened hearts will break and they will repent. What a joyous day that will be. Love those who love their sin and rage against God, Cry for them. Pray that they stop running to their current destiny and stop and love God. Pray for them. Love God for them. We who walk with God will have hope for them, the hope they should have. The Lord loves even those who raise their fist at Him. For now, He offers them the hand of peace and love.
